For this amazing Ritchie Hill styled shoot in Concord, North Carolina, MILK + HONEY inspired by a fresh design that would speak to brides in any region. We wanted to create a clean floral design that would not distract any wedding dinner conversation, so we decided to take it off of the table all together and hang it from the ceiling. We wanted to mix traditional with exceptional, so we mixed in a succulent theme with a sprig of bright hanging flowers, and shot our beautiful table set up on a pure white 1,600 square foot vintage front porch.
Libby of Details Wedding Planning introduced MILK + HONEY to Jen and Chris, and we had such a great time photographing Jen and Chris's engagement session on Lake Wylie just outside of Belmont, North Carolina. We had been holding out for a sunshiny day, and when we were finally graced with it, we got the cold too. Put it this way, I looked at the river in front of my home as I was driving to meet up with them, and it was frozen (burrr)! Even though it was cold, their love warmed up my camera, and it radiated through all of these beautiful images. I loved getting to hear about how these two met, their first date, wedding plans, and all of their cute furry friends!
We absolutely loved getting to photograph Laura Jo and James engagement! We captured their session throughout NoDa, and ended on a high note amidst the skyline of Charlotte, North Carolina. They met at The Blind Pig, and couldn't help but include it in their session, as well as their cute pups, and even Laura Jo's Mom in one photograph; as she was helping us out with their furry children for the morning. I am so excited for their Cinco de Mayo 2018 Wedding, and can only imagine what an amazing day and night it will be with these two saying "I Do!"
You know what is crazy?! Photographing one of your best friends 10 year marriage anniversary in San Diego, California at the Mission San Diego de Alcala! Are we even old enough to have any of our friends married for ten whole years?! Well, these two did get married in their early twenties, and even then they had been loving one another for over half a decade.
After an eventful engagement session in the Blue Ridge Mountains just outside of Asheville, North Carolina, Meleah and Corey knew MILK + HONEY was up for anything! When a rainy wedding day started, we knew it was just part of the adventure. I was so honored to be the one to capture their beautiful story. On October 13th, 2017, Meleah and Corey's family and friends all gathered with them up at the Roller Mill in Winston-Salem. The old flower mill was filled with love, laughter, and a few tears as we all witnessed these two vow to share the rest of their days together.
We had such an amazing time with Heather and Matt during their engagement portrait. Their beautiful backdrop of Freedom Park in Charlotte, North Carolina was in Springtime full bloom, and it couldn't have been more vibrant! From the Greenway, to the park, to the creek, we had a blast capturing these two love birds.
Cody and Caitlyn said yes to forever with each other on March 11th, 2017 in small town Mt. Holly, North Carolina at the Grand Hall. When I first met Caitlyn, it was easy to see how excited she was to be marrying the love of her life! In a cozy little coffee shop in Mt. Holly alongside one of her sisters and her niece, she just beamed as she told me about Cody and their relationship. Cody had not only become a part of her family since they had been together, but also a strong part of their church, and I could tell even before I met him for myself that he was such a good man with a huge heart.
MILK + HONEY was so honored to capture Brittny Ervin's Marie Antoinette inspired dream at the Duke Mansion. Here is what the creator herself had to say about the shoot:
MILK + HONEY headed back to the same little farm nestled just outside of Mt. Holly, North Carolina for Caitlyn's Bridal session. Did I mention, I love Bridal Sessions?!?! Bridal Session's are a whole new phenomenon for me since I moved here from San Diego, and they are definitely a Southern tradition that I love! We had such a wonderful time capturing Caitlyn, and a preview of what was to come on her special day that was around the corner.
We love love love mountains here at MILK + HONEY! Incredible views of the Blue Ridge Mountains were the inspiration behind the Off the Beaten Path styled wedding shoot. Mountains are beautiful, but add a gorgeous couple, a phenomenal blush dress, strapping midnight blue tux, and a lot of love, and you have the perfect setting for an intimate wedding.
It was so refreshing to get to meet up with Sparkle and Will for a Spring inspired engagement portrait in between the blooming peach blossoms of Fort Mill's Peach Groves.

Spring skies, fresh strawberry and sweet potato plated salads, and laughter complimented Jennifer and Christopher Higgins as they said I do before a back drop of freshly leafed foliage in the ceremonial garden of Concord, North Carolina's historic Ritchie Hill. This early 1900's Southern Victorian's light and airy rooms were a stunning backdrop while Jennifer prepared to walk the down the aisle, and the grand Southern front porch, made every guest feel at home during their reception.
